Hi! Thanks for stopping by.
As you all probably already noticed winter is coming to an end and I’m super extra happy about that because I literally hate winter okay. So, today I thought it would be a perfect time to talk a bit about the things that have been saving my body, soul and mind during the winter months.
Okay, le go.
Let’s start with books. It was pretty hard to choose which books to talk about because I read quite a few good ones, but I tried my best and here are three that I (probably) liked the most. The first one is this book called “Lorelei” and it’s by Lithuanian author Kęstutis Navakas. This book is about love and it consists of love letters and love poems and it’s honestly one of the most beautiful and precious things I’ve ever read. “Lorelei” made me feel so much and feel so happy and sad at the same time, I can’t even put it into words. I feel like it’s one of those books that make you want to go and feel things, you know. If you want something real and touching, definitely pick this one up.
The second one is “The Fall” by Albert Camus. If you’ve ever read something from Camus (and you probably have), you know that his writings tend to be pretty dark, deep and thought provoking. And it’s the same case with this one. This whole book is a monologue where the main character talks about and exposes the ugly truth behind life, people, society, existence, morality and everything in between. As you can feel it’s not an easy book (it left me a bit exhausted and confused) but it’s definitely a must-read.
The third one is “Hear the Wind Sing” by Haruki Murakami. It’s one of those books where not much is happening plotwise, there’s no straight-forward story line and I really really liked it because of that. The whole story seems kind of aimless but interesting and fascinating at the same time.
Favorite skincare stuff.
These past few months I’ve been trying out some products from Artistry cosmetics and I was pleasantly surprised how good they are. I’ve already written a little review on one of their facemasks (click here if you haven’re read it) but here are two other products that I’ve been also loving lately. The first one is an oil-free moisturizer for oily skin. I really like that this lotion is super light, it absorbs extra quickly but it’s also very moisturizing and doesn’t leave your skin dry. I feel like it’s perfect for us people with sombination skin. The second product is a perfecting primer. You can wear it on its own or under foundation. I like that it has these little shimery bits in it and they make your skin look hella smooth and healthy. Highly recommend these two babies.
Favorite lip stuff.
I’ve probably already talked about these two products on my blog before, but I honestly REALLY love them. It’s a lip butter from Nivea and a lipstick from NYX. This lip butter (in my opinion) is the best lip product for winter ’cause it’s super moisturising and makes your lips feel and look very smooth instantly. And it smells super nice!! Talking about the lipstick, it’s my favorite go-to shade – it’s very neutral but cool looking at the same time, if that makes sense. I feel like it’s the perfect nude shade for me.
Most of you have probably already seen or heard about this movie, but I still
want need to talk about it. And try to somehow make sense of my emotions, because oh god, there’s a lot of it. So, the movie I REALLY REALLY REALLY loved is called “Call Me By Your Name” and it’s a literal piece of art. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s basically a love story about this seventeen year old boy Elio and his dad’s assistant Oliver. It’s pretty hard to express the amazingness of this movie in words, but it’s so so beautiful and real and sad and heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. I just can’t guys. Also, I really loved the costumes in this movie – it takes place in the 80s, so that’s pretty self explanatory. Please watch it if you haven’t yet!!
So, my favorite band called Fall Out Boy released their new album last month and I’ve been listening to it non stop ever since. It’s called “Mania” and I’m completely in love with each song on it. Though my favorite would probably be this one called “Bishops Knife Trick”.
P.S. I’ve been also listening a lot to the soundtrack of the movie I’ve just talked about, it’s reaaally really good.
What were your favorite things this winter?
Let’s talk about it in the comments!!
It’s always nice to share cool things.
